Photography Challenges

I've decided that I need to set up some self challenges.  Sort of like a photo contest that only I'm participating in to challenge myself! So, I created a list of shoots that I want to capture, and over the next few months I'm going to be working on my list of challenges, here are a few examples of what I'm trying to achieve:

Seeing Red
Heavy Metal
Summers End
Behind Closed Doors
Shadowy Silhouettes
In 10 Minutes Time
Water, Water, Everywhere
It’s all a blur

Every week or few days I will post the challenge, and the instructions and my photos.  I'm thinking that I'm going to try and set up a flicker group (Not quite sure how all of that works) but it would be interesting if I could inspire some of you to follow along and do the challenges with me, and post them in the flicker group! So bear with me, this should be interesting, and if nothing else, it will be fun!

St. Patties Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!  I wore my Green! Did you?  I also wore my orange sweater, and then I looked at my breakfast, Oranges and Starbucks, and though, Hmm... I'm matching my food today! Coincidence?   So, here's a little iPhone love, using filters from this cool app called Instamatic.  I'm not sure how I feel about using filters, I normally like the un-edited version of my pictures.  All of the pictures on this blog have not be edited, cropped, or touched up in anyway.  I'm a natural girl, I like my work to be the same.  But, I thought these looked fun, and it is St. Patrick's day after all! :) 

Inspiration - cool Idea 2

Its no secret that I am an iPhone girl!!! When I saw this, I thought it was one of the coolest things!  And you could do a lot of spin off ideas of this too.  Maybe a virtual High Five, Maybe just one phone with the Guy kissing held up to the real lady's cheek.  Maybe a pic of all of their kids they made together.  The list goes on and on!  I love this idea!

I have a lot of baby shoots coming up and I can't wait to see all of them, and I can't wait to capture their little personalities!  I love taking pictures of babies!!!

Inspiration - Jill Thomas Photography

One of my favorite things to do is to seek out other photographers and oooo and ahhhh over their work! Looking at photographs always sets my heart on fire and inspires me and makes me want to get up and take some pictures of my own!  I recently stumbled across Jill Thomas Photography and I fell in love with this below photo.  I hope that one day I'll have a photo taken of me that shows how happy I am in this moment in time!

I love the face that the she is making.  She looks so happy, confident, secure, and in love.  She looks like she has a little secret and that secret is that she's never been happier in all of her life!  Take a look at her Blog and tell me what you think!  She takes some GREAT photos!

A visit to Santa Monica... Up on the roof!

Recently my boyfriend and I took a trip down to Santa Monica.  I had never been, there was a lot of crazies, (which I did not shoot their photographs)... I actually didn't break out my camera until we were leaving.  We were on the roof top just enjoying the scenery.  One side of us was the ocean, the other side was the mountains, and then there is this beautiful thing we call the cement jungle in the middle.

Here is my girl!  My proudest moment is being her mama!  She is so beautiful and funny and fun to be around.  Yes she is 3, and a challenge!  But she teaches me something new everyday, and I'm lovin being this girl's Mom!  Isn't she beautiful?!  She should be a GAP model or something.... In her Mother's opinion! :)

Welcome - Heatherly Photography

Hello,

Welcome to my new blog!  Heatherly Photography.  Photography has been a passion of mine for a very long time!  I love pictures and everything they mean.  I love being able to look back and remember a moment in time just by looking at a photograph.  I used to take old family pictures and create slide shows to music for the fun of it!  (I still do that occasionally).  Taking pictures brings me so much joy.  I love the idea of snapping away at a subject, a family, a couple, a baby, and being able to show people my point of view of them, and capture the emotions that they were going through that day.  EVEN better is to see their response to their photo's.  Its a great feeling!  Pictures are the story of our lives, with out pictures we have only images in our minds, isn't it great that this world is filled with pictures that we can continually pull out, look at, remember, and they bring us back to a different time.  I hope that I'm able to touch lives with my photography, that I am able to capture little moments in time for people to remember and cherish for a life time. These moments always bring a smile to my face, and extra beats in my heart!  

In this blog, I will be sharing photo's that I take, Photographers that I look up to, and things that inspire me!  I hope that I'll have the opportunity to take pictures for everyone who visits this blog!  Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!

Welcome Levi!

Meet Levi! Isn't he such a cute little guy!  He is only about a week old here in these photos.  I took his pictures before he even came into this world here.  He is the sweetest little sleeping baby!!! Enjoy these! I do!!

Kevin and Susan - Engagement

Here is Kevin and Susan!  Such a fun couple!  Susan has been one of my best friends for about 7 years now!  I love this girl!!! Her and Kevin are always doing fun things!  They even got married up in Tahoe! It was a fun day of shooting with these two!  Enjoy!

Tatiana and Jonathon - Pregnant

This is on of my favorite couples!  I've known them each separately longer than I have known them together, and longer than they've known each other!  This is Jonathon and Tatiana, and little Levi is inside!

Tatiana and I have been best friends for almost 15 years now, and Jonathon and my brothers used to play baseball together when we were kids.  This couple has been in my life for as long as I can remember, and I can't picture life with out them in it!  I'm so grateful for such Godly loving friends such as these two!  It was a huge honor to be their photographer and to capture this magical time in their life! 

This was the year of Babies!  Tatiana is such a beautiful radiant pregnant woman!  Jonathon loves his wife and his new family so much!  It gives me goose bumps to see the way he looks at her!  They have so much fun together, laugh together and love each other so much.  Their little Levi is SO BLESSED to have these two as his parents!!!
